Eva Jones has never felt as if she belonged and now she knows why.. Eva is summoned to a lawyer's office and discovers not only is she adopted, but she's the sole beneficiary of the biological grandfather. She rushes home to tell her fiance, only to find him having sex with another woman. Her life in chaos, Eva boards a plane to the property she inherited in Alaska hoping to learn more about her birth family.
Brantley Smith wants nothing to do with a spoiled, cold-hearted rich girl. When Eva walks into his tavern, Brantley knows she doesn't belong in Alaska. He doesn't care if she's beautiful, he knows what he found in her grandfather's cabin, and plan's to stay as far away as possible. Eva is stunned by the frigid beauty of Alaska, but the biggest shock of all is the gorgeous, brooding, sarcastic bartender who seems to hate her on sight.
But despite their initial animosity, their attraction can't be denied. Before long, Brantley would do anything to make Eva feel like she belongs... with him. However, Eva learns what really happened to her birth mother, and she's more torn then ever about her true place in the world.
Eva's abusive, adopted mother has her own agenda.
Pearl Jones has secrets she intends to keep buried, and she arrives to demand that Eva returns to South Carolina. Eva refuses, but Pearl's been lying for a long time and has no problem dealing out a few more to get what she wants, no matter the cost.
Confronted by a dark family history and the potential loss of all she holds dear, an Eva handle the devastating truth?

ALPHA BOOK CLUB REVIEW

“I’m at a loss for words.  I want so badly to throw caution to the wind and explore these feelings, feelings so strong they almost consume me, but I’m not here for this.  Not to mention I don’t even know how long I’m going to be here in Alaska.”

4 stars.  This book was an emotional ride, with a whirlwind romance.  And let’s not forget Brantley is the sexy bar owner, with a man bun and beard…..that’s all I needed to know to keep reading!!  Great story, great characters, great book!!

Confronted by a dark family history and the potential loss of all she holds dear, an Eva handle the devastating truth?

Eva grew up in a privileged house and was trained early on that she must always be well groomed and conduct herself as a lady, to catch the right man.  And while, she somewhat enjoyed the lifestyle, she always wondered about her life before.  You see, Eva was adopted.  Her adopted mom is a total b@tch and that’s putting it mildly, she’s basically forced Eva into an engagement to a man named Elliot and even though Eva doesn’t want to marry him, she doesn’t want to disappoint her mom.  That all changes the day Eva receives news that her real grandfather has passed and he’s left her a million dollars and his house in…...Alaska.  Excited by this news, and confused, she decides to go home and share it with Elliot.  She never imagined that she’d walk in on him screwing her “frenemy” on their couch.  That’s all she needed to have her eyes open, she decides to leave her life behind and go to Alaska, so she could try to reclaim her real life.  She never expected to find Brantley, the studly bar owner (with a man bun and beard….swoon) and although Brantley is a complete jerk to her from the beginning, she slowly works her way into his heart and he into hers.  Everything starts going smoothly for them both until Eva’s adopted mother comes to town and throws a wrench into Eva’s happy life.  Not to mention, Eva finds out what really happened to her birth mom.  Will Brantley and Eva survive the turmoil or will everything blow up??  This story was so brilliant!!  I really loved this book and I now love Brantley, I can’t resist a man with a beard and man bun!!!
