Genre: Contemporary Romance/Women's Lit
 Release Date: October 20, 2015

My name is Evelyn.

I met Devon and instantly fell for him.

Weeks later he fell for my best friend.

Never one to make waves, I watched as they started a life together. I stood by as their family grew, was the maid of honor at their wedding and the godmother to their children. All the while, I was longing for him, watching as he became the perfect husband and father. I was never jealous. I wasn’t even angry that my best friend had the only person I wanted. I had simply resigned myself to living without his love, but still being a part of his life.

Then, one terrible day, my best friend died.

She died and we all struggled to live life without her. Slowly, as the pain eased, our eyes opened and Devon finally saw me.

This is a story about second chances and second choices.

This is the story of how my life changed in the absence of Olivia.

Grief is, and always will be, the worst and hardest emotion any human being has to deal with –

it tears you apart, brings you to your knees and you feel abandoned. Evelyne has always been

in love with Devon, only to lose him to her best friend Olivia, a relationship that she has never

discouraged, ignored nor turned her back on, but rather embraced as much as she possibly

could. Unexpectedly, Olivia dies – the specifics, I keep secret, why? Simply because I believe it

is an area that is important and key as to how and why Devon and Evelyn eventually began

their path to a relationship. I am a first time reader of Anie Michaels and I must admit that her

story touched me – I have dealt with grief; it is ugly, difficult and especially an emotional

rollercoaster. Anie Michaels managed to bring her characters to life by adding different nuances,

backgrounds, and a timeless love story that touches your heart in such a way that readers are

pulled in, and wrapped in the cocoon that is a second chance at love between two people who

lost someone dear to them.
